The Retro England Rugby Shirt Flying Prince is an inspiration from “The Flying Prince,” inspiration behind the design. Along with it, the vintage England Rugby Polo Shirt and the heritage Flying Prince T-Shirt have also an inspiration.

Moreover, the design of this shirt mainly comprises of a vintage oxford crown. As well as appliqué English Rose on the front chest. Prince A. S. Obolensky was a Rurikid prince whose family fled Russia after the Russian Revolution of 1917, settling in London.

He was known as “The Flying Prince” and excelled in rugby, gaining two rugby blues representing Oxford University. In 1936 he scored 2 tries on his England Rugby debut in a 13-0 victory over the NZ. The game was the first time that England had beaten New Zealand in a rugby match.

The Morning Post described it thus: “Runners we have seen before, but never such a runner with such an innate idea of where to go and how to get there. His double swerve to gain his first try was remarkable enough. But the extraordinary turn-in and diagonal right-to-left run which won him his second and which drew forth that great Twickenham rarity, a double roar of applause, will never be forgotten by anybody who saw it.”

During 1936 The Flying  Prince would gain 3 more caps playing for England.

Prince Obolensky was became selected for the 1936 British & Irish Lions tour to Argentina covered in our YouTube Video.  On August 31, in a Brazilian XV in a warm-up game, he created a record by scoring 17 tries.
