The vintage West Kent 1871 rugby shirt is made with a heavyweight slub cotton which gives the shirt a hard wearing yet soft and comfortable retro style finish.

This vintage ‘old school’ shirt combines heritage colour dyes with a distressed wash to produce a nicely worn-in look and feel.

The number 7 is sewn on to the back of the shirt.

This classic West Kent 1871 rugby shirt is inspired by the founding members of the RFU.

All our vintage rugby shirts come packaged in a stylish Black&Blue1871 cotton drawstring bag.

WEST KENT F.C.

FOUNDER MEMBER OF THE RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION

West Kent were founded in 1867 by a nucleus of Old Rugbeians.

One of the founders Arthur Guillemard, a Lewisham man had previously played Association football for the famous Wanderers Football Club. He also played rugby football for Richmond Football Club.

West Kent FC played both codes of football at Chislehurst Common, on the same ground as their illustrious counterparts, the West Kent Cricket Club.

The club used the ‘Imperial Arms’ pub at Chislehurst as their headquarters.

At the height of their popularity the West Kent Football Club boasted nearly 100 members. In 1874 the club switched to playing rugby rules only.

West Kent produced two England Rugby Internationals; Joseph Fletcher Green, and the co-founder, Arthur George Guillemard.

West Kent disbanded in 1886
